Fine tuning my Cheap and Minimal Screen Setup

I have this Screen print setup and I’m just getting around to understanding how to use it well. With emulsions and exposures there is often a lot of trial and error to get it right.

I’ve worked in a variety of shops with different gear. Quality gear is great, but simple and easy to use gear is something I value. It’s awesome that today you can get an exposure lamp for $50 dollars and make some 8” x 10” screens.

These are my first real successful prints with my new setup which is basically: an iPad, Adobe Fresco, Procreate, an exposure lamp, emulsion for textile printing, wooden 8 x 10 frames, mesh, and a staple gun.

I use a water based inks and a heat gun. I’ve used a lot of chemicals in shops that I’ve worked in, so instead of reclaiming the screens I stretch new mesh for every new stencil. That way I cut down on the chemicals. And I just get my transparencies made at FedEx printing.

I’m low key stoked about this because it opens up possibilities in creating clothes and fine art paper pieces.
